October in Aruba & Annapolis Boat Show
We had a lovely sail from Bonaire to Aruba. Our stay in Aruba was just a brief stop before heading to Colombia. After just a few days on Aruba we flew up to Annapolis to go to the boat show. Our friends Ken and Cheryl had invited us to stay with them in their lovely farm house in Delaware so we could experience the Annapolis Boat Show.
As luck would have it the Alubat America Dealer was at the boat show, and had arranged for an owners get together, so we were able to share what we had learned about our boat over the past year. Our friend Tom on Velocity was also there, so Blair had a nice visit with Tom. We realized that we really have everything we need, and it was good to know that after having gone to a boat show, there was really nothing that was at the boat show that we "Just had to have".
Ken and Cheryl were wonderful hosts. Ken shared with us all the history surrounding his property. It was wonderful to learn about all the history of that area. Ken took us to the Hagley Museum where we saw some of the old working mechanical factory that helped to make gun powder for Dupont.
We really enjoyed seeing all the old buildings and estates.
Upon on Return to Aruba, we just had a few days before leaving for Colombia, so we went to the grocery stores to provision. Aruba has sadly lost a lot of it's polish. It's due to over development and there were many cruise ships that stopped by where the passengers don't spend much money. The main town of Oranjestad has definitely seen better days, with many vacant buildings, busted windows and graffiti even on the famous Royal Plaza Mall was vacant with busted windows.
So... After just a few days in Aruba it was off to Colombia.
