BVI's.. Jost Van Dyke & Tortola...Catching up with Friends

We arrived to JVD in the BVI's to check in to the Country and see our friends Tom and Sunny on their boat Velocity. We had orginially met Tom in A'Coruna Spain when he was on the dock right next to us, and we were both getting boat work done and preparing for the ARC+ Rally across the Atlantic. It was great to catch up with each other.

The BVI's are DEFINATELY focused on tourism, and it was a bit bizzare, to see since we had been on the quite island of St. John only 6 NM away earlier in the day. After one night of Big Winds and boats that were definately too close for comfort, we went around the corner to a cove called Diamond Caye, and picked up a mooring ball.

In Diamond Caye there was a bubble pool. I called it the Bubble Bath. It was only a short walk to the pools, and we enjoyed seeing the water come through the rocks into the tide pool. This anchorage was on the windward side of the island, so it was stressful to have big breezes blowing on us, and if the mooring ball failed we would be on the rocks fast.

We motored over to Tortola to Brewer's Bay. We knew the winds were going to pick up over the next few days, and this anchorage was well protected. It didn't have any mooring balls, no resturants, nothing to do,  but snorkel and enjoy the surroundings. Because of this, there was plenty of room and not very many boats.

We enjoyed a few days of this, and our friends from Velocity and Athena joined us for a lovely dinner onboard our boat.

Luckily... This is our life and we don't have the pressure to enjoy every moment of our time in the BVI's.
