The Baths' of the BVI's

We'd heard so many people say.. You just HAVE TO go to The Baths in the BVI's. When we arrived in the afternoon, there were a ton of Cruise Ship people. The place was packed, so we decided to wait until right before they closed to go on the trails and explore the rock formations of The Baths.

Even though we waited until right before closing there were still a ton of people hanging out around the rocks and shoreline. This definatly detracted from the experience. In addition, many of the rocks , looked almost exactly like the rocks that we see and Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe, so it wasn't the WOW experience that a lot of people have.

We decided to go to Spanish Wells to anchor off. It was not getting dark, as we went through the anchorage, we could see there were several catamarans close to the shore behind a reef, but we couldn't figure out how to get into the shallows, plus it was late in the day. We also tried to anchor, but there were so many boats, I didn't feel comfortable. Blair wanted to grab a mooring ball, but this again looked pretty dicey. In the end we went back to the free mooring balls that are outside The Baths, national park. They are supposed to be only for day use, but we picked one up right before sunset, and left early the next moorning. I felt safe, and eventhough it was a bit rolly, it was a safe spot for the night.
