Las Palmas Arrival and Final Preparations for the ARC+ Rally across the Atlantic

We arrived in Las Palmas, and since our Engine would not work if it was turned on and then off again, Blair turned on the Engine in the outer harbor and didn't turn it off again until we were safely at the dock.

We took at few days to explore the island and rented a cute cabin up on the summit of Las Palmas. It was good to geta break from the boat work.

Once back in Las Palmas it was back to dealing with the Engine issues. Blair finally figured that when the solenoid got hot, then engine won't restart, so the local Nanni dealer ordered us a new one. Once installed that fixed the issue. Yippee!

It was great to start meeting all the other sailors also heading across the Atlantic on this rally and enjoy some of the social get togethers.

I took the time to get my teeth cleaned, and the dentist did a great job. She even took 3D images of my entire mouth. Only cost $120!

We hired riggers to help with the mainsail that was still having issues when we tried to raise it. The sail kept dragging. Alas... even though we had them work on the tracks. The main still was dragging, making it very difficult to raise the main.

We did our final preperations for all the safely gear. Blair was able to get a great deal on more solar panels, and stainless steel. He build a stainless steel frame onto the of our bimini and added the additiona solar panels. Now we were up to 1000 watts of solar.

We also added another through haul to out boat, so that the water maker could make water any time. The previouls through haul that the factory had put in, was on the starboard side, just below the waterline. When we were at sea and sailing on a port tack, the through haul was out of the water, so it couldn't bring any sea water into, make fresh water.  (Obvioulsly... the factory didn't thing this through very closely ). Sadly we didn't arrange  a diver until the last day, to help us with installing the through haul. He was supposed to come out at 3:30 but didn't show up until 7:30. so we missed the final party.

However all provisions we purchased, including enough water incase the water maker died. We were ready to go.
